Day 266

Thursday, September 23, 2010
Today I took this photo of Zach just before school with his "list of girls".  Yes, that is what I said.  He showed his Dad at dinner last night this list of girls.  That is all he talks about is the girls.  It is very annoying, but we both had to laugh, because he has names of eight girls on his list.  I think he wanted me to fix egg sandwiches for all of them this morning, but I of course said NO!

Day 265

Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Today I was sitting at the stop light by Riley's school and noticed the misspelling on this sign.  I thought it was kind of funny because not only did the person who ordered the sign miss it, but so did the person who made the sign.  Hopefully they got a discount on it!

Day 264

Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Today Riley had to color a Navajo rug for school, since the one he started in class was lost.  Not sure where it ended up, but Riley really doesn't like to color, so this was a big task for him.  I was SO proud of him, because he only complained for a little bit before we started trying to get out of doing it, but once he got going, he did a good job and finished it!  Yeah Riley!

Day 263

Monday, September 20, 2010

Today I was let down when I went to watch my soap. I haven't been able to watch much lately, because I have too many other things to get done while the boys are in school, but I try to watch once or twice a week. Anyway, it wasn't on, so I went and looked it up on the computer and sure enough, they ended it! I couldn't believe it. I hadn't heard anything about it, except a year or so ago, my Mom said that she heard that they were going to be ending one of the long running soaps. Well they did! and it happened to be mine! SO, I watched the last 4 episodes on the website and was bummed! I will miss all the characters, but I am sure I will have more time on my hands now!

Day 262

Sunday, September 19, 2010
Today's POTD is of the normal Sunday we had at Mom and Dad's.  The boys stayed the night with Mom and Dad last night.  That is always nice for them and us too!  Today, Ron helped Dad do a brake job on their car, and then they did a few other tinkering jobs.  Mom and I took the laptop out back on the patio, since it was such a nice day and watched Riley play while we tried to get an order placed on Creative Memories.  They had digital downloads on sale for 30% off and I wanted to get some new papers and embellishments to use in my digital creations, but their website wouldn't let me in for the longest time.  Laurie and Kayla came over and then I loaded Mom's CM software on her laptop and showed Laurie a little bit on how to use it and she took off and created her first digital layout.  Anyway, it was just a lazy Sunday at Mom's.

Day 261

Saturday, September 18, 2010
Near Tarryall
In Como, CO
Today we decided to take a road trip with Mom and Dad to see the beautiful fall color!  I think the boys would have rather went camping and fishing, but Ron and I didn't want to even try!  Anyway, the route Dad chose, was GREAT!  The colors were vibrant!  I loved the scenery, although I could have done with out Riley's fits every time we got back into the truck, because he wanted to stay at each stop (which is frequent with Dad and Kayla) and dig in the dirt.  (He found a bone on Boreas Pass and wanted to dig with it!)

Day 260

Friday, September 17, 2010
What a day!  We decided yesterday to go camping this weekend, so I busted my butt and got everyone and everything packed.  Ron got home early, which NEVER happens!  While we were loading up and getting the camper hooked up, Ron got a call from work and the fuel pumps quit working!  He started making calls, and we got hooked up and left.  He decided to take us up and get set up and if he hadn't got the pumps fixed through his multiple phone calls, then he would go back down to work.  So we get to the place we wanted to camp and they were full (should have known better) and we decided to head to another campground close by, but we missed the turn and then realized that they didn't have very many spots either, so we decided to head to Colorado Campground which is right off the highway and has like 80 some spots, but when we got back there, it too was FULL!  So by now it's getting late and so we decided to get dinner at Wendy's and from there we decided to try Muller State Park, which has over 130 spots, so you'd think we would get one.  On the way to this one, Ron got a message that the fuel pumps got fixed, so that is good! When we pulled into Muller, there was the "campground is FULL" sign!  Ugh!  We decided at that time (almost 9:30 p.m.) to head back home, (third time is a sign that we should not be camping).  The boys weren't too happy, but they were tired of riding.  Riley said we can just try tomorrow, but Ron and I aren't too sure about that!

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Day 259

Thursday, September 16, 2010
Well today was girls night out and four of us went to dinner and the movie "Eat, Pray, Love".  I had a good time, as I always do on girls night out.  I am not too sure about the movie, it was good, but I think on a different day, different frame of mind it would have been better.  Some of the lines definitely made me think, which I guess is what it was supposed to do.  I think I just have too much stuff going on to truly wrap myself around that movie, so, another day, another time.

Day 258

Wednesday, September 15, 2010
Today I got myself an ATG gun!  I am pretty excited.  I have watched so many crafters on YouTube that all have one and it looks so easy to use and quick too.  Actually I saw on YouTube that Michaels had them and so I went with a 50% off coupon and got one.  It was only $21.47 after taxes, so I think that was a pretty good deal.  The lady that helped me find it said they have been flying off the shelves.  I laughed and said that's because the word got out that Michaels had them!

Day 257

Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Today was Riley's first day of Karate classes that I signed him up for at school.  He was really looking forward to it, and he LOVED it!  After class I was talking to his teacher who was still there, and we were getting ready to head out and Riley says "All I know is I was born for Karate!"  We both laughed and thought it was the cutest thing ever.  I hope he continues to Love it!

Day 256

Monday September 13, 2010
We had grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for dinner tonight and Zach wanted to make his own sandwich.  I tried to teach him and let him do it.  He did a pretty good job, but I am not sure I want him cooking on his own yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

Day 255

Sunday, September 12, 2010
Today we decided to go to the Apple Farm in Penrose and pick a few blackberries and apples.  We enjoy picking the apples and the wagon rides down to the orchard.  The berries were all picked over, but the apples were plentiful.  They even had pumpkins ready, however I wasn't in the mood for pumpkins and would rather make another trip for that later.  Now for the apple crisp!

Day 254

Saturday, September 11, 2010
Well, it's that time of year again, or almost.  Zach and Riley picked a few plums from our tree today, and we were all ready to get into plums, but I tasted one and they are really still green.  So for now we will hope these few ripen off the tree and we will try again soon!

Day 253

Friday, September 10, 2010
Today's POTD is of these cute boxes I made.  I saw the idea on YouTube from Chick N' Scratch or something like that.  I think I will make them for Riley's class for Halloween filled with candies!  Too cute.  Once again, I am loving YouTube!

Day 252

Thursday, September 9, 2010
So, this morning I was getting ready and Ron comes to me and says, "Did you forget to turn the fridge back on yesterday?"  OMG  I did.  Oops!  We were trying to find a noise in the kitchen and Ron says to turn the fridge off, because we thought it was it AGAIN!  Well it was Zach's CD player laying on the table just spinning.  Well, he didn't tell me/remind me to turn the fridge back on, or maybe he figured I didn't leave it off, but it didn't get turned back on for close to 24 hours.  Not too much was lost because we weren't home much to open and close it, but I did get to clean it out when I really didn't want to and we are having BLT's for dinner because the bacon was thawed.

Day 251

Wednesday, September 8, 2010
Today I kept busy making a few more waterfall cards.  I just LOVE them!  I guess I am going to have to clean sometime, but as long as the dishes are done and everyone has clean clothes I think I am okay!

Day 250

Tuesday, September 7, 2010
Today I took some time to create.  I haven't done much of that the whole summer.  I saw the idea of a waterfall card on YouTube and had to try it.  I love it!  I think it turned out great, and was really pretty easy!  (It is better to see a video of it moving) Love YouTube!

Day 249

Monday, September 6, 2010
Happy Labor Day!  Labor is what we did!  Besides the balloons, we finished the rocks!  YES, FINISHED!  We started Sat. after the balloons and we removed, cleaned and replaced the last of the rocks that were under these bushes and along the back side of the porch.  We also pulled out an ugly bush/tree thing and then we went this morning and bought additional rocks to finish the job.  I had major issues with the rocks we picked, but I am okay with them now.  Apparently it is quite difficult to match 15 year old rocks, who knew?  Anyway, the last of it is done, and we are happy with the way it looks.

Day 248

Sunday, September 5, 2010
So today I decided to go and "chase" the balloons.  I got up later than yesterday which was nice, Zach wanted to go too, so he and I drove to a close by area that I thought we would have a good spot to take a few photos.  Well, I don't know how good the photos are, but the memories are GREAT!  This balloon landed very close by where we were parked.
Then they called out to another couple that was close by to help hold them down. Then once their chase crew arrived all these people started walking the balloon across the street so they could pack it up.  It was pretty cool to watch.  I had a great time!
Here they are bringing in down and deflating it.  How cool!  It was definitely worth getting up and going on the chase.  About the time they got packed up, another balloon landed close by, but once their chase crew arrived, they swapped out riders and took off again.  I guess it was a great landing spot, because we saw quite a few of them in the area on the way home.  Chasing the balloons may become a tradition for me!

Day 247

Saturday, September 4, 2010
Today we got up bright and early and headed down to Memorial park for the Balloon Classic.  What a great thing to see and right here in town.  I really LOVE seeing all the different balloons and trying to get the perfect picture.  We got close to the water to see if the balloons touched down, but not really close enough to get great photos of them touching in the water.  (Didn't want Riley in the water) What fun for the start of a long weekend.

Day 246

Friday, September 3, 2010
Riley hollered for me to come see what he did, and this is what I see.  It isn't much, but he usually bugs me to put it together for him, so I was happy to see him do it by himself.  He has really been playing with these a lot lately, so I guess it is time for me to admit that he is done with the Little People and has moved on to the Imaginext.  Sad for me, but I guess they all have to grow up.

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Day 245

Thursday, September 2, 2010
Today's POTD is of Zach watching Scooby Doo on YouTube.  He loves YouTube!  I must confess, that I have really came to like it too.  I have gotten some great ideas for cards and paper crafts from there, as well as a bunch of laughs.  Zach is usually learning how to dance or play a Wii game, or watching girls dance.  He also likes to look up his favorite shows like Scooby Doo and watch the different episodes.  Since the boy's computer is behind mine I usually get to hear what he is watching, so I am glad to hear Scooby today instead of people farting or girls being stupid in front of a camera!

Day 244

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Today when I went in to pick up Riley, he was one of the last kids still there, and his teacher told him to get "it" out to show Mom.  I was a little concerned, but then he pulled out this cursive c worksheet.  He had completed the whole thing in class and did a very good job on forming the letters.  The teacher was pretty impress as was I.  We knew he could do it!

Day 243

Tuesday, August 31, 2010
Riley brought this "award" home today and was quite proud, as were we.  I hope this is the start of years and years of awards!  I am not sure what it was actually for, but it had a Tootsie roll attached and I think that was the best part for him!

Day 242

Monday, August 30, 2010
We finally bought a new couch and chair for the living room.  We actually bought it a week or so ago, but were just too busy to get it in.  We looked at it for months at Sam's Club and I started noticing that the price was going down, so that was a good thing.  Now I want new end tables, well, I have wanted end tables for a while now, but I think we need them because with the dark furniture and dark end tables it just doesn't look the best.  So I guess we'll see how long it takes us to decide to get some new ones.  Also, the doctor called today and all Zach's blood tests were fine, so he said that I should give him ibuprofen when he complains of the hip hurting.  Thank God it wasn't anything major!

Day 241

Sunday, August 29, 2010
Today Ron decided to pull the van onto the yard and wash it.  Riley helped too.  I love it when it's clean, but don't take the time like I should!  So I am thankful that he does it from time to time.  It saves me time and money, because I usually will go pay to have it done!

Day 240

Saturday, August 28, 2010
Today was the Buddy Walk!  We all had a great time!  Zach always stops by his sign along the route to have me take a photo.  He really enjoyed the whole thing!  Especially the friends that came to walk with him and the pageant girls that were there to congratulate us at the end!

Day 239

Friday, August 27, 2010
Friday comes and the boys are TIRED!  I came up from the basement and found them both asleep!  How nice to not have to force them to go to bed for once!

Day 238

Thursday, August 26, 2010
Today I took Zach to the doctor.  He has been complaining of hip pain, which I thought was just growing pains, but the nurse informed me that growing pains are generally in the legs, not the hip and since he has been consistent on where it hurts, we decided to have it checked.  So the doctor had x-rays done right there and then, and all was good.  He then sent us to do a blood test.  He is making sure the leukemia isn't back and checking for arthritis.   Well I took Riley to Grandma and headed up to have it done right away.  Zach wanted to do it his self, and since they weren't busy I let him go back once we got registered.  I was SOOO proud of him!  He let the lady take blood, although once he saw the needle thing he tried to tell her he was fine and didn't need a shot.  She told him it wasn't a shot, which technically it wasn't, but I think it's worse.  Anyway, he had to get poked twice, because the first one quit on her mid way through.  I couldn't believe it, but was so thankful that he did it without any issues.  He did cry, but he did SOOOO good.  Afterwards, we stopped to get him an icee (his favorite).  Now just have to wait for the results.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Day 237

Wednesday, August 25, 2010
Riley decided today that we needed to give this Batman car to Betsy, (the owner of the speech facilitly we use for Zach), because she had the Batman guys to fit in it and we don't.  I was floored.  This is my kid that never wants to get rid of anything, including broken junk toys!  Makes me think we are doing something right.  I told him to put it by my purse so we wouldn't forget it the next time we went.

Day 236

Tuesday, August 24, 2010
Today's POTD is of Riley working very hard on his cursive letters.  I am very proud of him.  He has really been trying hard to write his letters in cursive.  It is a little weird encouraging my 5 year old to learn to write in cursive, but that is the way this charter school does it and I think it is pretty neat.  He is already getting his name down, not perfect yet, but he is working hard at it.

Day 235

Monday, August 23, 2010
Today we went and picked up our Buddy Walk t-shirts for this weekend.  The Buddy Walk is to raise money and awareness for Down Syndrome.  Our local group puts on a great event every year.  We are excited to walk this year as it is always a lot of fun.

Day 234

Sunday, August 22, 2010
Today's POTD is of the view out our camper door.  I believe it is Mt. Princeton.  I thought it was so pretty, especially for not planning on staying here.  After we packed up we stopped at Eleven Mile on the was home and the boys fished some more.  No one caught anything, so that was a bummer, but I think we all had a good time!

Day 233

Saturday, August 21, 2010
Today we went back up to Cottonwood Lake.  We planned a picnic lunch as well as fishing.  Riley was the only one to catch a fish (while I was helping him).  He was very happy.  Ron got to do some fly fishing and snagged a few, but they got away.  It was a pretty fun day, although I think we stayed way to long!!  After a long day of fishing we went back to the camper, cooked dinner and we down to the ice cream social the KOA was having.  Zach played some basketball with some other kids and the rest of us got to ride on a horse drawn wagon.  It was a good day!

Day 232

Friday, August 20, 2010
Today we went camping.  We tried to get close to Cottonwood Lake (photo), but all the camping spots were taken by the time we got there.  We actually pulled over, looked up the Buena Vista KOA and got reservations for us and Mom and Dad.  They were coming up as well and we all wanted to be close.  I guess everyone is doing the same as us and trying to get in one more weekend of camping for the summer!

Day 231

Thursday, August 19, 2010
Today's POTD is of the broken fridge!  We have had more trouble with this fridge then it's worth.  Apparently it had been leaking for quite sometime because there is damage in the basement bathroom from it now.  The ice maker froze up and popped the tube that puts the water into it off, so the water was running down the back wall and into the basement ceiling!  Ron and I were able to fix it by putting my hair dryer into the freezer pointed at the back of the ice maker to thaw it out.  At least it's fixed I guess!
